Lindsay Lohan, who has seen her promising film career plummet recently, escaped felony charges when prosecutors filed seven misdemeanor counts against her stemming from two drunken-driving arrests. The district attorney charged Lohan with two counts each of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 percent and being under the influence of cocaine and one count of reckless driving. Police found cocaine on Lohan during the arrests on May 26 in Beverly Hills and July 24 in Santa Monica. In each incident, the amounts tested were below the .05 grams required for felony charges, according to the district attorney’s office. Sources say there were also problems proving Lohan was in possession of the drug. Each of Lohan’s arrests were followed by trips to rehab. Lohan crashed her Mercedes Benz into a tree on Sunset Boulevard in May and fled the scene to seek medical treatment. Police tests revealed that a white powder in Lohan’s purse was .04 grams of cocaine. Lohan checked into the exclusive Promises rehabilitation facility after the incident. She left the facility July 13 after six weeks of treatment. She was photographed wearing an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet after her release. Within days, she was involved in yet another bizzarre alcohol and drug related incident. In the second case, a law enforcement source says the manner in which the cocaine was seized was questionable. In addition, the source says the amount of cocaine “didn’t meet the threshold for filing.” “The D.A. always looks at the person and the circumstances and in Lohan’s case, the fact that she was arrested twice in a short period of time actually helped her. It shows someone is struggling with an addiction problem.” “The fact that each time she was arrested, she immediately checked into a rehab facility also helped her case. Also, her age and the fact that her upbringing was extremely unstable, also worked in her favor.”

Paris Hilton has reached a settlement in a $10 million defamation lawsuit between her and diamond heiress-actress Zeta Graff. In the suit, Graff claimed that Hilton spread “vicious lies” about her to the media in 2005. Both sides reached an “amicable resolution,” but the details were kept confidential, according to a statement released by Graff’s attorney, Bruce Broillet.”Both parties are glad that the matter could be resolved without the time and expense of a trial,” Broillet said in the statement. In the suit, Graff claimed that Hilton spread the lies about her to the New York Post. Richie was sentenced to four days in jail for driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway while under the influence. She was given credit for 1 day because she was in jail for 6 hours after her arrest. A Sheriff’s source says Richie was routinely processed and released according to normal operating rules. Overcrowding was a major factor in her early release.The Sheriff’s Department released a statement regarding the 82-minute incarceration of Nicole Richie:”On August 23 2007, at 3:15 PM Miss Nicole Camille Richie reported to CRDF and surrendered herself following a July 27 arrest, she was sentenced to serve 96 hours in County Jail. Lohan has until Jan. 18, 2008, to complete her jail time, community service and residential drug-rehabilitation program. Lohan was given credit for 24 hours already served, and she elected to complete 10 days of community service instead of 48 hours behind bars, an option available to all two-time DUI offenders. “She still must serve the balance of her sentence, 24 hours, in city or county jail,” Meyers said.

She was in possession of cocaine when she was taken into custody. Last week, Lindsay pleaded guilty to two charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance (cocaine) and pleaded no contest to two charges of DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol). She also pleaded no contest to one charge of reckless driving. After entering her plea bargain, she was sentenced to one day in jail and 36 months probation for her offences and ordered to undergo an 18-month alcohol rehabilitation program. The widower of the woman who died in a car accident involving R&B singer Brandy Norwood is furious that Brandy is out partying it up while he’s still mourning his wife’s death. The attorney for accident victim Awatef Aboudihaj’s husband, Marquane Hdidou, said his client is extremely angry that he sees pictures of Brandy out clubbing so soon after the crash, which took place last December. In the upcoming court case, the judge allowed the four parties suing Brandy in civil court to combine their cases: Hdidou, his wife’s two children from a previous marriage, her parents, and Mallory Ham, the man who survived the accident. A trial date has been set for January 28 in the civil case. As for the criminal case, the investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Bridget Moynahan and ex-boyfriend, New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady are new parents. Moynahan and Brady split up late last year after a three-year relationship. Moynahan gave birth to the baby in Los Angeles, Moynahan’s publicist Christina Papadapoulos said in a statement. “Both mother and baby are doing well,” she said. Brady’s whereabouts weren’t known. He wasn’t on the field or sidelines for the first 15 minutes of practice and Patriots spokesman Stacey James said he didn’t know when Brady would rejoin the team. Brady had said earlier this week that he would like a few days off for the birth of his first child, calling the event “a very joyous, happy situation.” It was unknown if he arrived before the baby was born.

Paris Hilton has reached a settlement in a $10 million defamation lawsuit between her and diamond heiress-actress Zeta Graff. In the suit, Graff claimed that Hilton spread “vicious lies” about her to the media in 2005. Both sides reached an “amicable resolution,” but the details were kept confidential, according to a statement released by Graff’s attorney, Bruce Broillet.”Both parties are glad that the matter could be resolved without the time and expense of a trial,” Broillet said in the statement. In the suit, Graff claimed that Hilton spread the lies about her to the New York Post. The Post reported that Graff, who once dated Hilton’s then-fiancee, Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, went “berserk” at a nightclub, tried to strangle Hilton and attempted to steal her diamond necklace. Graff denied the report and claimed that Hilton said, “I’m going to destroy you” after trying to oust her from the club, according to the suit. Hilton denied that she was behind the report.Hilton’s former publicist, Rob Shuter, said in a deposition that Hilton asked him to help plant the story and that he gave the paper comments, dictated by Hilton, that he attributed to himself, Hilton and anonymous sources.

Lindsay Lohan, who has seen her promising film career plummet recently, escaped felony charges when prosecutors filed seven misdemeanor counts against her stemming from two drunken-driving arrests. The district attorney charged Lohan with two counts each of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 percent and being under the influence of cocaine and one count of reckless driving. Police found cocaine on Lohan during the arrests on May 26 in Beverly Hills and July 24 in Santa Monica. In each incident, the amounts tested were below the .05 grams required for felony charges, according to the district attorney’s office. Sources say there were also problems proving Lohan was in possession of the drug. Each of Lohan’s arrests were followed by trips to rehab. Lohan crashed her Mercedes Benz into a tree on Sunset Boulevard in May and fled the scene to seek medical treatment. Police tests revealed that a white powder in Lohan’s purse was .04 grams of cocaine. Lohan checked into the exclusive Promises rehabilitation facility after the incident. She left the facility July 13 after six weeks of treatment. She was photographed wearing an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet after her release. Within days, she was involved in yet another bizzarre alcohol and drug related incident. In the second case, a law enforcement source says the manner in which the cocaine was seized was questionable. In addition, the source says the amount of cocaine “didn’t meet the threshold for filing.” “The D.A. always looks at the person and the circumstances and in Lohan’s case, the fact that she was arrested twice in a short period of time actually helped her. It shows someone is struggling with an addiction problem.” “The fact that each time she was arrested, she immediately checked into a rehab facility also helped her case. Also, her age and the fact that her upbringing was extremely unstable, also worked in her favor.”

Britney Spears is in more trouble after crashing her car in a Los Angeles parking lot. Paparazzi video cameras caught the incident, which took place outside a health food store as Spears tried to park her Mercedes Benz. With her new pet dog London sitting on her lap and without her seatbelt fastened, a smiling Spears offered, “I’m a braniac”, after grazing a parked station wagon.Spears was then caught hitting the same vehicle again as she swung her driver’s door open to get out. Checking the damage to her car,a pouting Spears told the video cameramen, “It’s not that bad.” There was no word as to whether the owner of the vehicle she scratched planned to seek compensation from her.

A Los Angeles judge has issued a temporary restraining order that prevents the release of a 1994 videotape documenting a breast augmentation surgery for Anna Nicole Smith. Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff granted the order at the request of Smith’s former attorney and executor of her will, Howard K. Stern. The injunction prevents the sale, distribution or dissemination of the videotape. In court documents, Stern accused Gerald Wayne Johnson, the Texas doctor who performed the surgery, of sending a tape showing the procedure to Thomas Riccio, a Los Angeles-based memorabilia dealer. Stern claims the surgery was taped without Smith’s consent. Smith died in Florida in February at the age of 39. Johnson claims he routinely records surgeries with the patient’s permission and promises to keep the video confidential “during the patient’s lifetime.” Johnson said he gave Riccio permission to use the video after Smith died. Stern claims Johnson’s wife and Riccio would share in any proceeds from the sale of the videotape to various media outlets.

Denise Richards has denied claims made by her ex-husband Charlie Sheen that she wants him to provide a sperm donation so she can have another child. The couple, who have two daughters, finalized their divorce last November, although Sheen is heading back to court to try and prevent Richards from phoning him whenever she likes, and to revisit custody terms. Sheen now alleges Richards asked for a sperm donation. He says, “There was a request for a donation. Without getting into it more, there is a specific document relating to this that I am going to reserve for a court.” Sheen, who is currently engaged to Brooke Mueller, has no intention of providing a donation: “I would sooner, in actually what I’m wearing, walk on the surface of the moon.” Richards has denied Sheen’s claims. She says, “I don’t want another child right now. I have my hands full.” Sheen counters her denial, “She can make every claim in the world. Spice Girl Melanie ‘Mel B’ Brown was secretly married to boyfriend Stephen Belafonte in June. Mel B and Belafonte and were married in a Las Vegas ceremony on June 6. A clerk at the Clark County Marriage Bureau confirms there is a marriage certificate. Mel B’s representative says, “the couple are ‘very happy’ and ‘very much in love.’ They have had a deep friendship for a number of years,” adding, “that has developed into a loving relationship.” As to the reason for secrecy, Mel’s rep says there was none. “They just value their privacy.” It is the bride’s second marriage. Last week, a representative for Eddie Murphy said he had previously admitted to being the father of Brown’s infant daughter, following the news that Brown had filed a Superior Court petition to legally establish him as the child’s father.

Fox has been barred from drinking alcohol, just one sip could bring her back in front of the judge.In Los Angeles County Superior Court, a judge ordered Fox to stay sober until her September arraignment, but didn’t bar her from associating with those who are drinking. “She can be around alcohol because of the nature of her work” the judge said, adding “but she cannot consume or possess it. I am not permitting her to consume alcohol.” If Fox does drink, she could be forced to hand over thousands in bail money, due to the fact that she was originally released on her own recognizance. Fox was arrestedfor DUI in March, after she raced past the police at a high rate of speed on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. She reportedly registered .09 on a Breathalyzer test, just over the .08 legal limit. If convicted, Fox faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Ronnie Blake, the man whose foot Lindsay Lohan drove over as she left a party in pursuit of a former assistant is threatening to sue her. Blake was one of three partygoers who was inside an SUV when the intoxicated Lohan allegedly commandeered the vehicle to chase her former assistant, Tarin Grahame through the streets of Malibu, California.Blake managed to get out of the vehicle just before Lohan sped off, with his two pals, Dante Nigro and Jakon Sutter fearing for their lives inside. Blake’s foot was run over in his attempt to flee the vehicle. The three men have hired attorney Randall Billington to represent them as they consider legal action against Lohan. If the suit goes ahead, Blake will be seeking damages for his injuries, while Nigro and Sutter are considering pressing false imprisonment and stolen vehicle charges. Billington insists the trio should not be seen as opportunists looking to get rich quick from a celebrity. He says, “It was a surprise to them that the vehicle was taken without their permission. They were unable to remove themselves from the vehicle while it was traveling. They never expected to be in a car with Lohan.” After speeding the SUV through the streets of Malibu at a high rate of speed, Lohan allegedly went to Grahame’s home in Santa Monica, where she began a second chase with her former assistant’s mother, Michelle Peck. Peck called police to report that she was being chased and the authorities arrested Lohan in a parking lot a block away from a police station in Santa Monica.

To the delight of neighbors, Paris Hilton has put her 1926 Spanish-style Hollywood Hills home on the market for $4.25 million. Hilton wants to buy a larger home in a gated community or, one with a long gated driveway, according to her aunt and informal spokeswoman, Kyle Richards. Hilton bought the four-bedroom residence in 2004 for about $2.9 million, during the second season of her reality show, ‘The Simple Life.’ She redecorated the interior in black and white and transformed one bedroom into a walk-in closet and another into a security control room. During Hiltons recent legal woes, her home was the center of a media invasion that was upsetting her neighbors. The throng of reporters and paparazzi staked out the home above Sunset Boulevard, capturing her move from jail to home and back again. The onslaught caused some residents to circulate a letter advising neighbors to call police about the noise and traffic. Richards, says their discomfort was not a factor in Paris’ decision to sell. “I’m sure they’ll be happy to see the paparazzi go, but that had nothing to do with it,” Richards says. “She can’t control the people who are outside.” Hilton is currently staying in a rented home in Malibu.

She will always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us.” Allred said Murphy took a DNA test in June. Brown, who dated Murphy last year, gave birth to her daughter April 3. She listed Murphy as the father on the birth certificate. Britney Spears threw a baby bottle and threatened two photographers after they took pictures of her leaving a Las Vegas spa, the photographers claim in a statement. Spears yelled, “I am going to kill you!” and cursed at Andrew Deetz, a photographer who says he was beaten by Spears’ bodyguard according to a statement released by Deetz’s lawyers. “Deetz is preparing to sue,” his lawyers said. The other photographer involved was Kyle Henderson. They both work for a celebrity photography company called Flynet Pictures, according to Daniel Kogan, a spokesman for Deetz’s lawyers. The photographers were taking pictures of Spears as she and her children left the spa at the Wynn Las Vegas casino-hotel accompanied by two bodyguards. “One bodyguard, Cesar Julio Camera pushed Henderson against the wall until Wynn security intervened and asked Henderson to leave,” the statement said. “As they were about 30 paces away and walking in the opposite direction, Camera attacked Deetz from behind, threw him on the ground and punched and kicked him until security pulled him off,” the statement said. “Afterward, Spears ran toward Henderson but was stopped by security, and then she threw a baby bottle at him,” it said. “Then, in front of several other hotel guests and bystanders, Spears threatened to kill Deetz and said he should get a restraining order against her because she was going to kill him or hire someone that would,” it said. Camera also previously confronted Deetz outside a boutique in Beverly Hills and told him, “I have unfinished business with you,” the statement alleged.Deetz, who maintains he always kept a safe distance of approximately 30-50 feet while photographing Spears, says the attack caused him “multiple bruises to his face and head as well as injuries to his brain, neck and other parts of his body.” He claims he continues to receive treatment for his injuries. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department opened an investigation into allegations that Paris Hilton received special treatment during her 23 days in jail for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case, authorities said.”The internal probe will examine whether Hilton was given free access to a cordless phone instead of being forced to wait in line to use a pay phone at certain hours,” sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said.”Also under scrutiny are claims Hilton received a new jail uniform instead of the recycled ones given to many inmates and that her mail was delivered by a captain instead of inmate trusties,” Whitmore said. The allegations were brought to the attention of the department’s union, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, by its members. Whitmore said the claims differ from the department’s own information about Hilton’s incarceration.”We’re going to investigate it and get to the bottom of it and find out exactly what happened,” Whitmore said.

After more than six weeks in rehab, Lindsay Lohan finally left Promises rehab facility and headed straight to Las Vegas nightclub Pure to attend the surprise birthday of her assistant. Lohan had extended her stay at rehab facility Promises in Malibu, California, after a series of drug and alcohol-related misdemeanors. She entered rehab for the second time this year following her arrest for DUI (driving under the influence) following a May car crash in Beverly Hills. She had planned to stage her recent 21st birthday celebrations at Pure but opted instead to host a small party for family and friends at a Malibu, California beach house. She made amends with Pure bosses when she made an unannounced appearance and danced the night away, sipping only energy drink Red Bull. Lohan lived it up with a group of ten or so pals.
